Volvo Unveils The World’s Largest Bus In Brazil
Volvo Unveils the world's largest bus, the Gran Artic 300 at the FetransRio exhibition in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Volvo Unveils the world's largest bus chassis, the Gran Artic 300 at the FetransRio exhibition. The Volvo Gran Artic 300 is a bi-articulated chassis, which measures 30-metres long and has the capacity to carry 300 passengers.
Being showcased at, this long chassis has been developed for high passenger capacity transport systems, and Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) where buses ply on dedicated lanes.
The newly developed Gran Artic chassis can carry 30 more passengers compared to the previous model. One bi-articulated bus can replace three standard vehicles.
The high capacity bus eliminates the number of buses operating in the bus corridor. This will result in increased average speed of the system and importantly, lower emission.
Volvo is a market leader in developing buses for BRT system and has supplied more than 4,000 buses to BRT systems around the globe.
Head of Volvo Bus Latin America, Fabiano Todeschini said, "We are leaders in vehicles for high-capacity transportation systems, Bus Rapid Transit, and now we introduce the world's largest bus chassis."
He added, "This vehicle will provide more efficient transportation systems, offering a higher quality for the passengers and improved cost efficiency for the transport operators."
During the FetransRio exhibition, Volvo also unveiled the new 22-metre, three-axle articulated chassis, the Super Artic 210, with a capacity to carry 200 passengers.
