Volvo S90 Excellence Revealed — The Ultimate Chauffeur Driven Car?

Swedish carmaker Volvo has unveiled the S90 Excellence  Edition, a long Wheelbase variant version of the S90 with only three seats.

The S90 is based on the the long wheelbase version of the S90 which is called the S90 L. The Volvo S90 L was unveiled alongside the Excellence Edition in Shanghai.

Both the S90 L and the S90 Excellence Edition are 120mm longer than the normal S90 sedan.

The S90 Excellence Edition, which will only be made available in China, replaces the the front passenger seat with an infotainment system along with more space for the passenger sitting on the back seat diagonally opposite to the driver.

The seat replacement module is what Volvo calls the Lounge Console. The Lounge console includes the aforementioned infotainment system along with a small space for the passenger to store items like shoes.

Volvo has made use of a lot of high quality material for the interiors of the car to ensure that owners get a more luxurious experience.

In addition, Volvo has also made numerous accessories available for the China exclusive car including folding tables, a heating/cooling cup holder, refrigerator with bottle and glass holders, and handmade crystal glasses from Swedish glass design firm Orrefors.

The S90 Excellence is powered by Volvo's T8 Twin engine hybrid powertrain which combines a 2.0-litre supercharged and turbocharged four-cylinder engine with an electric motor to produce 401bhp. Volvo's T4 & T5 engines are the options available.

Volvo has thrown its whole host of safety features into the car including its Large Animal Detection system, which can spot animals such as deer and cows and apply the brakes to avoid an accident.

Volvo has also added its semi autonomous Pilot Assist to the car which allows the car to drive itself at speed up to at speeds of up to 130km/h.

The Volvo S90 Excellence will go on sale in 2017 and will be manufactured in China along with the rest of the S90 range.
