Volvo Hybrid Models Coming To Indian Market During 2016
Volvo Auto recently confirmed to us that they are keen to bring in hybrid models within 2016. The Swedish-based automobile manufacturer currently offers a wide range of luxury products in the country. Hybrid vehicles will add more value to their existing luxury portfolio in India.
At this moment, Volvo Auto offers only its XC90 SUV with a plug-in hybrid option. For international markets, Volvo offers the XC90 hybrid in three variants, Momentum, R-Design, and Inscription. The approximate pricing for the hybrid SUV is between Rs. 42 lakh to Rs. 44 lakh.
A petrol-hybrid version of the XC90 will be introduced in India soon. Powering the hybrid SUV will be a 2.0-litre petrol engine with an electric motor. The petrol engine will deliver power to the front wheels while the electric motor will take care of the rear wheels.
Recently, the Indian Government is getting stringent with emission norms in vehicles. Volvo Auto wants to offer Indian luxury car buyers with an option of a cleaner and greener SUV. The XC90 plug-in hybrid will also receive certain subsidies owing to the FAME Scheme.
Volvo India could bring in several other hybrid vehicles in the country based on its experience with the XC90 plug-in hybrid. So far, the Swedish-based automobile manufacturer has not confirmed which hybrid model will be coming to India, however, it is most likely to bring in a hybrid SUV.
