Volkswagen To Buy Back Polluting Cars? Find Out If You're Affected
Volkswagen will offer to buy back 5 lakh cars that are powered by the 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine.
The offer is part of VW's settlement with US environmental agencies as it tries to avoid a lawsuit over the emissions scandal that has cost it $18.2 Billion (Rs. 1.21 Trillion) and seen its shares drop by over 25 percent since the scandal was unearthed in September 2015.
The 2-litre diesel engine has been fitted in VW cars as well as cars from other brands that Volkswagen own including Audi and Skoda.
However, Volkswagen still has to contend with fixing its other diesel engines fitted with the defeat devices like the smaller 1.6-litre diesel engine as well as the larger 3-litre engine that is also used by one of its most profitable luxury marques, Porsche.
