Tiguan SUV Launch Pushed Back To 2017 By Volkswagen India
Volkswagen showcased the Tiguan SUV at the 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi. In the international market, the Tiguan is already available and on sale.
The Indian market was supposed to receive VW Tiguan sometime during 2016, however, its introduction has been pushed ahead. Reports now suggest that the Tiguan SUV will be launched in India sometime during 2017.
Main reason for the delay in launch, is to focus on mass market products in the Indian market. The Tiguan SUV is a premium offering from Volkswagen.
Recently, Volkswagen launched the Ameo compact sedan in the Indian market. Initially, the Ameo will be offered only with a petrol engine, with a diesel engine most likely to be introduced during the festive season. Volkswagen is expecting an overwhelming response for the Ameo in India.
Manufacturing priority is being offered to the Ameo, Polo GTI, and Passat models. This is the sole reason for Volkswagen pushing the launch of its Tiguan further ahead to 2017. Surprisingly, the Tiguan was supposed to be Volkswagen's first launch of 2016.
