Volkswagen Geared Up For Polo GTI Launch In India
Volkswagen is all geared up for the launch of its Polo GTI model in India. The deliveries of this new hot hatch will commence from December.
The number of units sold will be limited and the car is expected to be a pricey affair with a price tag of more than Rs 25 lakh. But still, the GTI will go head-on with BMW Mini and Fiat Abarth 595.
From Volkswagen's perspective, the timing for the launch of the GTI is perfect. The Polo GTI is a lifestyle brand and will attract customers.
The Indian variant of the Polo GTI is a two-door version and is expected to make a strong connection with the youths of India.
Volkswagen plans to involve young customers in cities such as Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru. VW had done an extensive market research in these cities two years ago.
The German carmaker states that GTI is the best one can have next to Beetle. If everything goes to plan the deliveries of the Polo GTI should begin by December.
Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India, Michael Mayer said, "The cars must be on their way in the ship from our Pamplona plant in Spain."
He added, "On the radar is a local hot hatch though there is still some way to go before this becomes a reality. I am confident that GTI will set the bar. It is eventually about the brand since young people in India aspire for one."
