Spy Pics: Volkswagen Polo SUV Spotted Testing; Is It Coming To India?
Volkswagen has been working on a brand new compact SUV based on the Polo hatchback.
The new SUV is expected to enter India as part of the Volkswagen group's SUV assault on the Indian market.
The new SUV, which was caught on camera testing under the cover of some rather heavy duty camouflage, looks to be a smaller version of Volkswagen's Tiguan. The SUV is also expected to spawn a topless model based on VW's T-Cross Breeze SUV.
The new SUV does look like a Polo on stilts with the same boxy shape. Up front, the headlamps do share the same basic shape as the ones seen on the Polo. However, at the rear the SUV seems to be sporting a new set of tail lamps which extend onto the boot lid.
The new SUV is expected to be based on VW's flexible MQB platform. If the new SUV does enter India, expect a Skoda badged clone of the SUV to follow with both SUVs set to compete with the likes of the Creta compact SUV from Hyundai.
