Volkswagen Planning Hyundai Creta Rival
The Volkswagen group is planning to meet the growing demand for SUVs by flooding the Indian market with around 9 such vehicles in the near future all of which will either bear the VW or Skoda badge.
VW plans to begin the SUV onslaught on Indian roads with a rival fro Hyundai's segment topping compact SUV, the Creta.
The new SUV will be based on the T-Cross concept and will be based on the company's MQB A0 platform which also underpins the upcoming next-gen Polo hatchback. The T-Cross concept was seen at this year's Geneva Motors Show in April.
The new SUV is expected to use a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine in the international market but when it does enter India it is expected to make use of the locally produced turbocharged 1.2-litre petrol producing 112hp and a 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine producing 117hp.
The new SUV is also expected to take on quite few design cues from the T-Cross and T-Cross Breeze concepts that showcased a brand new design approach from Volkswagen. The interiors of the car are also expected to be quite more upmarket as well.
Prices for the upcoming VW SUV are expected to start at around Rs. 10 lakh.
