Volkswagen To Invest In Indian Road Safety
Volkswagen India is investing in Indian road safety by contributing Rs 55 lakh to build CTCC in Pune.
The German car manufacturer Volkswagen's Indian arm, Volkswagen India is all set to start a CSR initiative by investing in the Indian road safety.
Volkswagen India will be investing in setting up a Centralised Traffic Control Centre (CTCC) at Pune Police Headquarters. The car manufacturer has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Traffic Police and Rotary Club of Pune Baner Charitable Trust on November 28, 2016.
A ceremony for ‘Bhoomi Pujan' was held recently, where the CTCC will be built. Representatives from the Traffic Police Branch and Volkswagen India attended the ceremony.
Volkswagen India will invest Rs 55 lakh in the construction of the CTCC facility. Once the project is completed, the facility will help in efficient traffic monitoring and management remotely 24x7.
The CTCC facility will be equipped to minimise the response time in case of accidents or any other emergency situations which may occur on the roads.
Apart from that, the CTCC will be also a platform to manage traffic signals, especially in areas with heavy traffic. The centre will also have access to remote surveillance cameras installed in 260 locations.
President and MD, Volkswagen India, Andreas Lauermann said, "It is a privilege for Volkswagen India to partner with the Traffic police and the Rotary Club of Pune Baner to make our city safe to drive. As a brand, safety is one of our core components and we always abide by the same."
He added, "We are committed towards addressing & optimizing requirements pertaining to road safety and ensuring the well-being of the citizens with setting up of the Centralized Traffic Control Centre here in Pune."
