Volkswagen Fastback Model Will Be Produced — Volkswagen Brand Chief
Volkswagen has confirmed that it will be producing the fastback model which was showcased at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.
At the presentation of the 2017 Volkswagen Golf facelift in Germany, Volkswagen Brand Chief Herbert Diess stated that the Volkswagen will produce a fastback model.
Earlier it was said that the fastback model will be based on the VW Sport Coupe Concept GTE which was showcased at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.
The new VW fastback model which is possibly the next generation Volkswagen CC began road testing this year hinting that VW will introduce the model.
Diess said: "In 2017 we will be presenting more than 10 new models and major updates. A new fastback will deliver on emotion and the T-Roc will be the next step in our SUV offensive to name just two of them."
He added, " By 2020 we will have renewed our complete line-up realizing the brand's greatest product offensive ever."
The new fastback model will be a four-door coupe-styled sedan and will be powered by turbocharged four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines.
The plug-in hybrid variant powertrain will include 3-litre V6 turbocharged petrol engine and two electric motors.
The new fastback model will be slotted above the VW Passat. When launched the VW fastback model will go head on with the likes of Audi A5 Sportback, BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe and the Mercedes-Benz CLC which will be launched in 2019.
