The EV from Volkswagen will be a five-door hatchback, with sliding mechanism for rear doors. The sketches reveal that the EV gets futuristic lighting and the rear roofline that extends beyond the tailgate. With no conventional engine, the nose of the car is short and the front grille is absent.
The EV model is likely to be released to the market by 2019. Volkswagen claims that the electric car will have an impressive range of 400kms on a single charge. Which will be enough for daily commuting.
The EV is identical in size as compared to brands Golf hatchback, but being an electric car interior space will be more than that of a hatchback. The car will feature 24-hour internet connection and continuous link to Volkswagen app store.
The hatchback will be VW's second offering in the EV segment, as the manufacturer looks to move away from conventional fuels following the diesel emission scandal. Volkswagen targets selling around 1 million electric cars by 2025.
