Volkswagen Motorsport India has started the registration process for the driver's selection round of the Volkswagen Ameo Cup 2017.
Ameo Cup 2017 will be hosted as the part of the MMSC-FMSCI Indian National Racing Championship. This one-make racing series is expected to be held at racing circuits across the country.
Buddh International Circuit, Greater Noida, Madras Motor Race Track, Chennai and Kari Motor Speedway, Coimbatore will be hosting the Ameo Cup races in 2017.
The format of the Volkswagen Ameo Cup will be identical to the recently concluded Vento Cup 2016, which has given the young drivers a opporunity to showcase their driving skills.
The Vento Cup 2016 saw a total of 18 drivers competing for the title from different parts of the country. And concluded in October 2016 to make way for the Ameo Cup 2017.
The drivers who will be applying for the 2017 Ameo Cup will have to go through a special Driver's Selection round which will be held at Indi Karting Track in Pune on 17th and 18th of December, 2016.
Head of Volkswagen Motorsport India, Sirish Vissa said, "Since we first introduced Motorsport in India in 2010, we have had the good fortune to see the landscape evolve by leaps and bounds, not just from a talent point of view but also in terms of the ecosystem that supports it."
He added, "With registrations opening today, we are waiting with eager anticipation to engage with India's young aspiring racers and find the hidden gems that will help accelerate the sport to the next level in the new year."
Total of 20 equally prepared Ameo race cars will form the grid for 2017 season and total of 10 races are scheduled across the year.
