future.
The Vitara Brezza is set to launch in India as a diesel-only model. Maruti will be using its 1.3-litre DDiS engine, in its more powerful 89bhp disguise.
The company will provide the Vitara Brezza with a petrol engine below 1,200cc of displacements to avail excise benefits. Maruti currently employs only one engine in this displacement, which is the 1.2-litre K-Series engine.
The company is also set to introduce its new 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo-petrol motor later this year in the Baleno RS.
The Vitara Brezza is set to rival the Mahindra TUV300 and the Ford EcoSport. The use of a petrol engine will see Maruti's new offering better equipped to rival its competitors.
