Maruti Suzuki's sub-compact SUV, the Vitara Brezza has been a tremendous success in the Indian market. Launched in March this year, the Brezza received a healthy response from the Indian customers.
In just eight months after its launch, the compact SUV garnered over 1.72 lakh bookings. Currently, the waiting period for the Vitara Brezza is up to seven months. It seems like the customers are not bothered by this fact.
Now, the Vitara Brezza has achieved another milestone, it has crossed a sales figures of 83,000 units. Recently, the Brezza was awarded as the Indian Car Of The Year (ICOTY) 2017.
Due to the high demand for the compact SUV, the waiting period goes up to seven months depending on the variant. The Vitara Brezza has been a performer for Maruti Suzuki against the likes of Ford EcoSport and Mahindra TUV 300.
Maruti Suzuki in a statement said, "Vitara Brezza has sold nearly 83,000 units since its launch in March 2016, making it one of India's top 10 selling models and propelling Maruti Suzuki to the leadership position in the Utility Vehicle space as well."
The Vitara Brezza is available only in diesel variant. But the petrol variant is also expected to launch with the automated manual transmission (AMT) technology.
The currently sold Vitara Brezza is powered by 1.3-litre diesel engine churning out 88.5bhp and 200Nm of peak torque, the engine is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox.
Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch the petrol version of the Vitara Brezza. The petrol variant is expected to be powered by 1.5-litre engine producing around 100bhp and the transmission options include five-speed manual gearbox or automatic transmission. It is said that Maruti Suzuki may also employ the 1-litre Boosterjet engine.
