Vettel & Ferrari Surprise Mercedes-AMG With Pace In Mexico
Sebastian Vettel was fastest in Free Practice 2 at the Mexican GP for Ferrari. Mercedes-AMG is a bit surprised with Ferrari’s pace, however, they are confident things would change in the qualifying
Scuderia Ferrari and Sebastian Vettel have surprised Mercedes-AMG with their Free Practice 2 pace. Vettel set the fastest lap time around the Mexican circuit ahead of Hamilton. Ferrari lead both Mercedes drivers in terms of pace during FP2 at the Mexico GP.
Lewis Hamilton was 0.004 seconds slower compared to Vettel's lap time. Nico Rosberg was in third and 0.435-seconds slower. Kimi Raikkonen on the other was extremely close to Rosberg's lap time and the Finn could spring a surprise during qualifying.
Mercedes are known to increase its pace during qualifying. Unfortunately, both Red Bull Racing and Scuderia Ferrari has failed to do the same. For competition sake, lets's hope Ferrari and Red Bull can compete with Mercedes at the Mexican GP.
Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen could manage only fifth and seventh places respectively. Red Bull Racing drivers were split by Force India's Nico Hulkenberg. Home hero Sergio Perez could not impress his fans as he could only set a lap time for fifteenth place.
McLaren Honda seems to have found some pace from their race machine. Fernando Alonso was tenth fastest, while Jenson Button was twelfth fastest. Sunday's 2016 Mexican GP could be interesting as we could finally see the top three teams really fight with each other on track.
