Vehicles In Ahmedabad To Soon Come Fitted With Number Plates
From Navarathri, new vehicles in Ahmedabad will come fitted with number plates. This is a move by the transport department to eliminate the long waiting period people undergo to get their High Security Registration Plate (HSRP).
Vallabh Kakadiya, the Minister of State, transport (independent charge), said, "The department held a meeting with dealers of cars and other vehicles and decided to issue the number plates before delivery to dealers so that consumers can get vehicles fitted with number plates."
Over 13m lakh new vehicles are registered in the state annually and this move will bring a huge relief to people in the area. Cars will come fitted with number plates in Ahmedabad initially, followed by Surat, Vadodara, and Rajkot. Within the span of a year, the entire state will follow the same.
The Minister says that there will be a system implemented so that new vehicle owners will get their Registration Certificate on the same day too.
