Vauxhall To Make British Touring Car Championship Comeback

Vauxhall is to return to British Touring Car Championship under Power Maxed Racing after a long absence.

The British Touring Car Championship is about to witness a return — the Vauxhall Astra, as Power Maxed Racing will compete with a racing version of the Astra.

Details about the car have not been revealed fully, but the car looks to be based on the Astra TCR that was launched last year by the European carmaker.

The car will need certain modifications, but will be based around the 2.0-litre turbocharged engines that make around 300bhp.

For those wondering, Vauxhall has a long history in the British Touring Car Championship, which started in the year 1989. That was the first of 10 titles the carmaker earned before leaving the sport in 2009.

Vauxhall's new partnership with Power Maxed racing, Automotive Brand, the parent company will be seen using Vauxhall vehicles for parts distribution operation as well.

When the Vauxhall race car is on the field, it will have to compete with race-spec cars like the Honda Civic, Ford Focus, Chevrolet Cruze, Volkswagen CC, Audi S3, BMW 1 Series, and the Mercedes A-Class.
