Upcoming Renault Cars In India 2016-17
When Renault launched India's first compact SUV, the Duster, the company went on to create a niche for itself. Today, every manufacturer wants to launch a compact SUV from their range of cars.
Renault is upbeat about its future plans for the Indian customer, with the Renault Kwid doing exceptionally well in the market, the French auto major is gearing up for new launches. Here is the list of upcoming Renault cars in India.
Renault Kwid 1000cc & AMT
The Renault Kwid 800cc became a runaway hit and has sold nearly 1.5 lakh units till date. It has threatened the dominance of the Maruti Alto and is inching closer to the top slot.
Not just the pricing factor which helped the sales of the Kwid, it has the design aspect as well, and the features like touchscreen infotainment system which makes it stand apart.

Renault wants to capitalise on the benchmark set by the Kwid and launch the 1.0-litre engine which will come mated with the choice of manual and an automatic gearbox.
The 1.0-litre petrol engine is expected to produce 70bhp of power and 90-95Nm of torque, which will be mated to either a 5-speed manual or R-AMT (Renault Automatic Manual Transmission) gearbox.

Renault Kaptur
With Renault tasting success with the Duster, they want to position an SUV above the Duster with premium features. It will be set to compete with the likes of Mahindra XUV500 and the upcoming Tata Hexa.

The Renault Kaptur is a crossover and will feature premium SUV characteristics with an AWD system with three different modes - Lock, Auto, and 2WD.
Renault has not revealed the power units for the Kaptur, globally it is offered in two variants of petrol and two models in diesel.

Renault Kwid Compact SUV (Codenamed HBC)
With the success of the Kwid, Renault is expected to launch a compact SUV based on this platform codenamed HBC. It will share most of the features and engine from the Kwid 1.0-litre model.

Since it will be based on the Kwid, the 1.0-litre engine will do the duty and expected to produce between 64 to 69bhp, which will be mated to the 5-speed manual and a choice of R-AMT gearbox.

Renault Kwid Compact Sedan (LBC)
The irresistible compact sedan segment is one where all manufacturer would like to a model from their range. Renault wants to offer a model in this segment based on the Kwid platform, which will be codenamed LBC.

Renault will build the LBC based on the features and power unit based on the Kwid 1.0-litre model. The Renault Kwid compact sedan will compete with the likes of Maruti Swift DZire and Honda Amaze.

New Generation Renault Duster
The best selling model from Renault, the Duster will be facelifted and will grow in length to house the third row. The new generation model called the Duster Oroch concept was showcased at the Sao Paulo Motor Show.
As for the engine on the new generation Duster, it will continue to house the same engine as the current Duster in India. It could be re-tuned to provide better fuel efficiency and better power ratio.

Renault Compact Family MPV
With Renault Lodgy seeing a moderate response, the French car maker will look to replace it with a better or premium model. The new MPV from Renault will be built based on the CMF-A platform which is the same as the Kwid.
With the Kwid as the base platform, you can expect the price to be competitive as well. The engine doing the duty will be the same as the Duster or it can be of the 1.0-litre engine which will be seen in the upcoming Kwid.
