Car manufacturers launch facelifted cars to keep pace with newer technology and trends in the country and globally. Here is a list of cars which will be facelifted and will come to India in 2016-17.
This list is in no particular sequence of launches or top launches.
1. Chevrolet Beat Activ
The Chevy Beat has been a good seller for the American car manufacturer in India, it took a lot of young buyers to go for it. It had a unique look and was one among the small cars with a diesel engine.
Chevy wants to give the Beat an edge and will launch it as a crossover. This Chevy Beat Activ will come with new dual tone colour combination on both exterior and interior. The overall look of the Beat Activ is being trendy and sporty.
The Chevy Beat Activ will come with LED DRLs, body cladding, front and back skid plates, touch-screen infotainment and will be bigger compared to the old Beat. Expected to be launched early 2017, the Beat Activ will either be powered by 1.2-litre petrol or 1.3-litre diesel engine and will be priced between Rs. 4 to 6.5lakh.
2. Honda CR-V
Honda has offered only the petrol models in its car up till recently, however, with customers in India taking an interest in the diesel engine, many manufacturers started to offer both diesel and petrol engine.
Honda wants to get back into the rhythm and provide diesel engine and started with the Amaze, now even the City and Mobilio come in diesel engines. Especially the SUV are preferred with a diesel heart. Honda is gearing up to equip the CR-V with a diesel engine to kick start its SUV segment sales.
Along with the diesel engine for the Honda CR-V, it will be facelifted as well, there will be changes in the front like the LED DRLs, wing design philosophy of the front grille. Also, the rear gets a bit of facelift as well, the tailgate will be re-designed and chrome strip which will make the difference.
The petrol model will continue with the 2.0-litre and 2.4-litre engine, the diesel is rumoured to be powered by a 1.6-litre engine and could churn out 118bhp of power and might come with an automatic gearbox.
The new facelifted Honda CR-V is expected to be launched by the end of 2016 or early 2017 and will be priced in the range of Rs. 21 to 25 lakhs.
3. Honda Brio
The Honda Brio has not been facelifted at all from the time it was launched in 2011 and has had a lukewarm response in the country due its lack of premium features. Honda is working on an all-new Brio to address these shortcomings, however, expect a quick facelift prior to the all-new Brio.
The facelifted version of the Honda Brio will get a wider grille, loses its chrome accents, small or little body kits to give it a sporty look. There will be no changes in regards to the power, however, a diesel engine is expected in the new Honda Brio.
The prices of the new facelifted Brio will range between Rs. 5 to 8 lakhs and is expected to be launched in 2017.
4. Hyundai Tucson
Hyundai has been toying with the idea of the launching the new facelifted Tucson in India. The previous model launched in India was seen as a success, however, the current trend of compact vehicles in cars and SUV, Hyundai had to stop the Tucson.
Recently, the Hyundai Tucson has been spotted testing, this is the new generation Tucson which is designed based on the Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 language. The front is full of curves, unlike the Creta which is squarish.
The Tucson will be positioned between the Creta and the Santa Fe and will have a lot of SUV features. The new Hyundai Tucson is expected to be launched in India by the end of 2016.
The price range of the Hyundai Tucson is between Rs. 17 lakh to Rs. 22 lakh, which will be powered by 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine and probably a 2.0-litre diesel engine.
5. Toyota Fortuner
The most loved SUV for the VIPs in India, the Toyota Fortuner will come in an all-new avatar, the facelifted Fortuner will sport a sleek looking headlamps with LED DRLs, new chrome strips on the front grille and new front bumper design.
The overall dimension of the Toyota Fortuner though will remain the same. The new Fortuner will be powered by 2.4-litre and 2.8-litre diesel engine will come in two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive respectively.
Toyota will price the facelifted Fortuner in the range of Rs. 24 to 27 lakh and will compete with Mitsubishi Pajero sport, Hyundai Santa Fe and Ford Endeavour.
6. Honda Accord
Honda has been in the premium segment and concentrated more on the mass market models like the City, Amaze, Mobilio, BR-V and Brio, however, it is looking to re-establish its premium image by bringing back the popular Accord and Civic.
The Honda Accord is the probable model which is lined by for launch later this year. This Honda Accord is the ninth generation which comes with sportier front grille and the headlights are new and the same goes with the front bumper.
The facelifted Honda Accord is expected to be powered by 2.0-litre petrol engine which develops 154bhp of max power and the diesel unit will come in 2.2-litre churning out 148bhp. Honda will offer a 2.4-litre petrol engine which produces a massive 194bhp as well. All these engines will be mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
The new generation Honda Accord is expected in the price range of Rs. 23 lakh to Rs. 26 lakh and will be launched late 2016 or early 2017.
7. Renault Duster 7-Seater
Renault Duster has been the biggest entry for a new car maker in India, the Duster took the sub-compact SUV segment by storm and now every manufacturer has a vehicle under the same segment.
However, in the recent past, the Duster has not made much of sales, thanks to Creta, Brezza, EcoSport, which has eaten into the market share of the Duster. Renault will bring the facelifted Duster soon to India which will be a 7-Seater.
Yes, this Duster will be bigger in dimensions to give space for the third row to make it a 7-seater vehicle. The new Duster 7-seater will compete with Mahindra Scorpio and the newly launched Honda BR-V.
The facelifted Duster is expected to be launched in mid-2017 with a price tag of Rs. 8 to Rs. 14 lakhs. The 7-seater Duster will continue to house the same engine probably tweaked to take that extra load. The current Renault Duster is powered by s 1.5-litre diesel engine and a 1.6-litre petrol engine, both these engines are mated to a 5-speed gearbox.
