Uber Is Launching Coloured Lights To Make Your Life Easier
This isn't the first time Uber is tesing its colour-changing lights to go inside its cars.
Uber is testing its light beacons that can be fixed to a car windscreen and change colours to show the customer which car is picking them up.
The customers can choose the colour on their phone, and the colour of the Beacon will change to their choice. The company had tested something similar before, but never succeeded.
Uber will initially test the lights in four cities: Newcastle, Miami, Denver, and Nashville. The company said that more cities will follow in the coming years, and the lights will be distributed to drivers in December before New Year's Eve.
The company stated that the app will soon display the colour of your assigned car in the smartphone app, so that it's easier to find which car is yours.
As of now, only things displayed on the Uber app are the make and model of the vehicle, registration, and a photo of the driver. But now, the interface will have a photograph of the car, and a car on-screen that navigates through the virtual map.
This isn't the first time Uber has tested out colour-changing lights to go inside its cars. In 2015 it trialled "Spot" lights that could change to different colours. That test was only in Seattle, though.
