Japanese carmaker Toyota has unveiled the 'Land Speed Cruiser', a modified version of its Land Cruiser SUV at the crazy gathering of modified cars that is the 2016 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show.
The Land Speed Cruiser is one of 30 cars that Toyota is showcasing at the 2016 iteration of the SEMA show in Las Vegas.
However, what makes this modified Land Cruiser special are the two things on every petrolhead's mind, Speed & Horsepower.
The Land Speed Cruiser is powered by a 5.7-litre V8 engine that is boosted by two Garrett turbochargers which Toyota claims are the size of volleyballs. The boosted V8 kicks out an enormous 2,000bhp which should help the Land Speed Cruiser hit its top speed goal of 220m/h (354km/h).
To help it deal with the extra juice under the hood, the Land Speed Cruiser has been fitted with a whole host of modifications to help it harry supercars on the street. The body has been slammed down and the suspension setup has been modified as well.
There are a few aero tweaks like a lip spoiler, air inlets to feed the mental engine along with other aero tweaks to keep it stuck to the ground at high speeds. Also present is a roll cage to keep everyone inside safe.
Toyota hasn't hit the target top speed of 220m/h yet with the Land Speed Cruiser, the SUV has only hit 160m/h (257.4km/h) during testing.
However, with a few more tweaks, Toyota will go after the SUV top speed record currently claimed by the Bentley Bentayga.
