Toyota’s Delhi Diesel Solution: Petrol Innova Production To Begin In July
Toyota's brand new Innova Crysta is a runaway success. Since its launch in May, the MPV has blazed its way across Toyota's sales books and has regained its crown as the best-selling MPV in India.
However, the Delhi-NCR region has been a big roadblock for the new Innova. Due to the ban affecting new diesel cars with engines above 2,000cc, the Innova has missed out on one of its biggest markets as both its engines breach the norms.
Despite the ban, the need to enter the very lucrative Delhi NCR market is something that Toyota just cannot ignore.
To combat this, Toyota will soon be offering a new petrol powered variant of the Innova and according to GaadiWaadi, production for the Petrol Innova Crysta will start on July 18 at Toyota's facility in Bidadi, near Bangalore.
The new petrol engine is a 2.7-litre four-cylinder with Toyota's Dual VVT-i technology. The engine produces 164bhp and 245Nm of peak torque and is expected to be offered with the 6-speed manual gearbox with an automatic option expected to join later on.
Toyota is expected to start deliveries of the new petrol powered variant of the Innova Crysta by mid-August.
