Toyota Starts Importing Lexus SUV Into India
We had earlier reported about Toyota's plan to launch the Lexus brand in India. Now, a search on the import/export database reveals that the manufacturer has imported 14 units of the RX450h SUV to India for homologation purposes.

The RX450h is Lexus' midsize hybrid SUV powered by a 3.5-litre, V6 petrol engine and battery-driven electric motors to produce a combined power output of 290Bhp.
The Lexus Hybrid Drive system is programmed to minimise fuel consumption in traffic. The SUV can run purely on its electric motors under acceleration, and the combustion engine is programmed to shut down at low speeds.
Globally, Lexus offers the RX450h mated to a CVT gearbox, and the SUV is available with a choice of a front-wheel drive as well as an all-wheel drive system.
The RX450h will feature an electric tailgate, keyless ignition, a 9-speaker entertainment system and a dual-zone climate control. Moreover, the SUV will be offered with a plenty of optional features similar to the global-spec RX450h.
The details regarding the launch of the Lexus brand are scarce at the moment, but once we get to know about it, we'll make sure you read it first on DriveSpark. Stay tuned.
