Toyota Prius Recalled In India - Is Your Car On The List?
Japanese carmaker Toyota is recalling the Prius hybrid in India, as part of the 1.43 million cars that are being recalled globally for defective airbags. The carmaker has decided to make a voluntary recall, starting June 29, 2016.
According to the statement issued, Toyota will check and install retention brackets for the curtain airbag inflators of select models of the Toyota Prius sold in India. A total of 170 units fall under the recall.
The models being recalled are made between November 2009 and April 2012.
The company said, "There are no reported failures of the affected part or any aggravations thereon in India till date. This voluntary recall campaign is being done by Toyota Kirloskar Motors in order to fulfil Toyota's commitment to customer satisfaction."
Toyota is recalling 1.43 million Prius' globally for defective airbags and this has no connection with the recall for defective Takata airbags.
