New Toyota Prius To Be Launched In Early 2017 In India
Toyota's new Prius is expected to be launched in early 2017 in India. This petrol-hybrid sedan has been in the Indian market since 2010.
With Indian government offering incentives to alternative powered vehicles in India, Toyota will be launching its more expensive Prius model in the country.
The new Prius has been completely redesigned compared to its outgoing model. The sedan also packs revolutionary technology under the hood.
The latest iteration of the Prius is available with nickel-metal battery and a lithium-ion battery. However, the Indian version will only get the nickel-metal battery variant.
The new Prius will be powered by 1.8-litre petrol engine which produces 97bhp and a 71bhp electric motor. The engine is mated to a CVT gearbox.
The petrol-hybrid sedan is said to deliver a mileage of 40km/l which will make it the most fuel efficient car in India.
The new Prius is the first car to be built on Toyota's TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) platform. Toyota has made more improvements to the car to make it more drivable than before.
While the Prius is not expected to sell like hot cakes in India, but it will showcase the technological excellence of the Japanese automaker in the country with impressive features and 40km/l the car should be popular in the country when it is launched.
