Toyota Innova First-Gen MPV Model Production Comes To An End In India
Toyota Motors India has ended the production of their most popular vehicle in the country. The first-gen Innova's production has come to an end, as a new model will be replacing the MPV soon. The second-gen Innova by Toyota Motors India will be christened as the 'Crysta'.
Currently, the Innova was being manufactured at Toyota's Bidadi facility in Karnataka. The Innova by Toyota was an extremely popular vehicle among personal as well commercial buyers in the country. Toyota ruled the MPV segment with its Innova and the new model is expected to continue the trend.
A special ceremony was organised at Toyota's Bidadi facility in Karnataka. Previously, there were rumours that the new and current Innova would be sold side by side. It now seems like Toyota will not be taking this route and will offer only the new, second-gen Innova in India.
The very first Toyota Innova was launched in India during 2005. The Innova back then was introduced to replace the Toyota Qualis. Toyota Motors India witnessed tremendous success with the Innova. On an average, the Innova sold 5,000 units per month in the Indian market.
The Innova Crysta will be a premium MPV offering by Toyota Motors India. The new MPV by Toyota will go on sale by mid-2016 and will continue to be locally produced. Pricing and other details have not been revealed so far and is saved for the launch.
