Premium MPV Leader - Toyota Innova Crysta Bookings Open
Toyota has started bookings for the next-generation Innova Crysta, and the dealers have started to take bookings at Rs. 50,000 for the premium MPV, and deliveries could start from March, 2016.
The best selling car from Toyota required a much needed overhaul of the interior and exterior, and they have not been disappointing, this was showcased in the just concluded 2016 Auto Expo.
The premium MPV gets overhauled inside-out. The front end looks a lot aggressive with protruding style of the fascia, which is influenced by the Toyota Corolla Altis and the new Camry.
The large hexagonal grille with twin slat chrome grille, large swept back headlamps look menacing and the fog lamps are well finished with covered round chrome finish. Notable changes is the LED DRL's and projector headlamps.
The taillamp too is swept to the sides and makes the MPV look a little more sleek and premium compared to its predecessor. The turn indicator flows down the taillamp like canine teeths.
The side of the Crysta looks very much the same as the old, however, the company has redesigned the D-pillar, the enhanced kinks look more sharper, which finishes off at an angle closer to the door. The bootlid and the bumper has been completely reworked.
The interior has gone through a complete makeover with dual tone upholstery, faux-aluminium trims and woodgrain, which are abundant, this will be available on some of the variants. The top variants will receive leather upholstery and captain chairs.
An automatic gearbox will be added to the arsenal which could come with different driving modes, like the Eco and Power mode.
The Innova Crysta features an automatic climate control, a 7-inch infotainment, start/stop button with cruise control. The second and the third row seats are electrically adjusted for ingress and egress, making it easier at a touch of a button.
The MPV will be powered by an all-new 2.4 litre turbodiesel engine mated to a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The engine pushes out 147bhp, a 45bhp increase compared to the previous generation innova which had 102bhp, and a massive 342Nm of torque (360Nm torque for the automatic).
The price tag could be anywhere above Rs. 18 lakhs and will be launched by end of March or early April, 2016. The older variant will be available to cater to its fledgling commercial customers.
