Toyota Motors India showcased the all-new Innova Crysta at the 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi. Recently, the Japanese-based manufacturer launched its premium MPV only with a diesel-powered engine. Now the Innova Crysta will be equipped with an optional petrol engine.
Unfortunately, Toyota is not able to sell the Innova Crysta is the Delhi-NCR region. Roughly, seven percent of total sales have been affected by the diesel ban. The Fortuner and Innova Crysta are powered by diesel engines over 2.0-litre, which cannot be sold in Delhi.
A 2.7-litre four-cylinder, VVT-i petrol engine will be developed by Toyota. The engine will produce 161.76bhp, along with 245Nm of torque and will be mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Production of the petrol engine is expected to commence by July.
Innova Crysta will be equipped with a petrol engine sometime during September 2016. The all-new Toyota Innova Crysta will go on sale finally in the Delhi-NCR region. We expect the petrol-powered Innova Crysta to cost in excess of Rs. 14 lakh ex-showroom, and a few variants will also be on offer.
