Toyota has confirmed the launch of the petrol model of its popular SUV - Next-Gen Fortuner - later this year. The production of the Toyota Fortuner petrol model will start this year-end and the launch will be in the fourth quarter of 2016.
The Japanese auto major has launched the petrol model of the Innova Crysta this month and bookings have started.

With the recent ban on the diesel vehicles over 2000cc in some regions in India, Toyota wants to bring its best of products to India in the guise of petrol engines.
The Innova Crysta has done well in sales with 7,800 units in July alone and taking the top slot in the MPV segment. With the Fortuner up for launch later this year, Toyota will up the game in the premium SUV segment.
Toyota will offer the diesel variant as well on the Next-Gen Fortuner and powering the SUV will be a 2.4-litre GD engine and a 2.8-litre engine which is seen in the Innova Crysta.
Once launched, the Toyota Fortuner will compete against the Ford Endeavour, Chevrolet Trailblazer, Honda CR-V and Mitsubishi Pajero.
