Toyota Fortuner Crosses An Impressive Milestone
Toyota in a statement said that the Fortuner has maintained its number one position in its segment since its launch back in 2009.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor announced today that its premium SUV Fortuner has crossed a significant milestone of one lakh cumulative sales mark in the domestic market. Toyota launched the premium SUV Fortuner in India back in 2009 and has continued to hold the number one position in its segment.
TKM Director & Senior Vice President Marketing & Sales N Raja said that being able to serve more than one lakh happy customers in such a premium and competitive segment, is a huge achievement for the company.
He further added that the new Fortuner launched on November 7, 2016 has also received an overwhelming response from the domestic market.
He said that with over 6,000 booking orders within the first few weeks of its launch, the company sold close to 2,000 units of the new Fortuner last month clocking more than 80 percent growth when compared to the numbers sold in the corresponding period of 2015.
Toyota still has close to 5,000 pending orders which the company is trying to deliver to customers at the earliest as possible.
The new Toyota Fortuner was launched in India with a price range of Rs 25.92 lakh to Rs 31.12 lakh ex-showroom (Delhi). It will compete with the Ford Endeavour, Chevrolet Trailblazer, Hyundai Santa Fe, Honda CR-V and the Mitsubishi Pajero.
The Toyota Fortuner comes in six variants and is powered by a new 2.8-litre diesel engine producing 177bhp and 360Nm of torque. The Fortuner also comes with a 2.7-litre petrol engine churning out 164bhp and 245Nm of torque. Both the engines are mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
The diesel powered Fortuner is also available with a four-wheel drive. The new Toyota Fortuner is based on the company's modular Toyota New Generation Architecture (TNGA) platform. The TNGA platform ensures the new Fortuner is lighter than the outgoing model.
