Toyota Innova Crysta Remains Key Seller For Toyota Despite Ban
With the dawn of 2016, the automotive industry was excited to see a few new vehicles from carmakers, especially the new Toyota Innova Crysta. But the year 2016 was also a bearer for bad news which would ban diesel vehicles above 2000cc from being registered in Delhi.
A lot of manufacturers took a hit with sales since most of their diesel vehicles are above 2000cc. Toyota did gather up guts and launched the Innova Crysta, which has contributed significantly towards Toyota's overall sales. Thanks to the Crysta, Toyota has taken the 4th place in the passenger vehicle segment in May 2016.
Toyota sold 12,614 units in May 2016, and has claimed the 4th position from Tata Motors, which sold only 8,617 units, despite launching the new Tiago hatchback. The Innova Crysta contributed 7,259 units by itself for Toyota in the month of May.
The ban on diesel vehicles affected manufacturers like Audi, Mercedes, Mahindra, Tata, and Toyota. Mahindra came up with a clever idea and limited their engine displacement to just under 2000cc, helping them regain the market.
For Toyota, however, the Fortuner as well as the Innova Crysta are still facing issues because of the sales ban.
