Toyota Breaks Ground Of Its New $1 Billion Factory

Toyota has opened its second manufacturing plant in Mexico worth $1 billion and will manufacture its Corollas in the factory

Toyota is celebrating the groundbreaking of its second Mexican manufacturing plant located in Apaseo el Grande and will be known as Toyota Motor Manufacturing de Guanajuato (TMMGT).

When the factory is completed, it will be the 15th in the North America and will manufacture the Corolla from 2019 onwards.

The company said the Guanajuato factory will cost $1 billion to build and tool, also, it will employ 2,000 people and produce 200,000 Corollas per annum.

As per Mike Bafan, TMMGT president, TMMGT will afford Toyota the oppurtunity to boost vehicle quality and appeal at the same time achieve cost savings through production engineering innovations.

He further added that the plant will be simple, sustainable, mindful of its environment and highly competitive.

Also, he said that this means customers will benefit from our cars being produced locally with the highest quality and environmental standards.

The Japanese brand will be producing nearly 2.2 million vehicles annually in North America once the production at the TMMGT reaches its full capacity.
