Cars have become a necessity rather than a luxury in today's world. Cars are being manufactured more than ever before in the history of automobiles. A record 60.58 million passenger vehicles were manufactured in 2015 alone. Here are the top six car producing countries in the world.
Out of the 4.2 million vehicles produced by India, 82 percent were personal cars. The country experienced the highest ever growth rate among the top car manufacturers. Car production increased by 7.3 percent in 2015 when compared to the previous year.
Tata Motors Ltd. led the production of vehicles for India. Of the total vehicles manufactured, 654,000 units were exported in 2015.
5. South Korea
South Korea produced 4.5 million cars in 2015 out of which 4.1 million were personal cars. The commercial vehicle numbers stood at 400,000 units. The growth was slightly lower with an increase of 0.7 percent when compared to the previous year. Hyundai Motor Co. led the highest number of cars produced.
The hub of luxury car manufacturers, Germany produced over 6 million cars in 2015 with an increase of 2.1 percent compared to 2014. The global exports for the countries one of the best with 22.7 percent of 2015 worldwide exports was attributed to Germany. The German manufacturer leading the production of cars is Volkswagen with 700,000 units in 2015. Mercedes-Benz came in second in the country.
Japan manufactured almost 9.3 million units of vehicles in 2015. The country though experienced a contraction in production in the top eight manufacturers as it produced 5.1 percent less compared to 2014. Japan is the second largest country to export vehicles with Germany producing 12.8 percent of worldwide exports. Leading the country's manufacturers is Toyota with approximately 29 percent of Japan's automobile production. Honda came in second holding about 14.4 percent market share.
2. TheUnited State of America
The U.S. produces just 4.1 million personal cars in 2015; however, its commercial vehicle production makes it stand in the second spot for the top six car producing countries list. The country might be behind Japan and Germany in producing personal cars, but it produced almost twice the number of commercial vehicles as any other country. This includes five times that of Japan and over 24 times that of Germany. The U.S. manufactured over 12 million cars in 2015.
Leading the U.S. car production is General Motors with a market share of 17.5 percent, while Ford came in second with 14.5 percent market share and hold the spot along with Toyota in the automobile manufacturing market.
Here is the behemoth, China is the leading manufacturer of cars in 2015 with aproduction of 24,503,326 units for 2015. The personal car production was an approximate 86 percent of the total cars produced. The remaining 3.4 million cars produced were for thecommercial purpose. With sales of 5.86 million units, SAIC Motor Corp., Ltd. led the highest manufacturing of vehicles in the country.
India is inching closer to the 5th largest automaker in the world by leading in the first seven months of 2016. India has produced 2.57 million cars for the period of January to July 2016. South Korea has produced 2.55 million units, a mere 20,000 units separate the two countries.
