Top 10 Selling Cars In November — Surprise Entry In 10th Position!
Tata Tiago has entered the top 10 selling cars for the month of November 2016 with sales of 6,008 units and has contributed 47 percent of the total passenger car sales for Tata Motors
In the backdrop of demonetization in India, auto manufacturer's sales have been adversely affected especially commercial vehicles and two-wheelers. Beating the apprehensions of the cash crunch, some of the car manufacturers have reported an increase in sales for the month of November 2016.
Here are the top 10 selling cars for the month of November 2016. This does not include sales of SUVs in India.
10. Tata Tiago
Tata Tiago has debuted in the top 10 selling cars in India for the month of November 2016. The home-grown automaker's passenger vehicle business has finally hit the sweet spot with the sales of its small hatchback Tiago.
Tata Motors sold 6,008 units of the Tiago in November and occupies the 10th spot among the top selling cars in India for the month. Tiago has contributed 47 percent to the overall sales of the company. With its IMPACT design philosophy and good features at a competitive price, the Tata Tiago has impressed many.
9. Hyundai Elite i20
Hyundai's premium hatchback Elite i20 has dropped two ranks with sales of 7,601 units for the month of November 2016. The South Korean automaker had sold 8,264 units in November 2015 and stood at the7th spot.
With increasing competition from rivals, the Hyundai Elite i20 seems to be feeling the heat. Its nearest competitor, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno performs better due to its features and pricing. Hyundai will look to address the drop in sales and knowing by their experience in India, they could update their premium hatchback car soon.
8. Renault Kwid
Renault Kwid is witnessing adrop in sales in the recent past. The French automaker sold 7,847 units to move up to the 8th rank in the best selling cars in November 2016.
Renault Kwid is the current flavour in the small hatchback segment and has been steady in its performance. The Kwid boasts of good features and fuel efficiency backed by competitive pricing which is its selling points.
7. Maruti Suzuki Celerio
Maruti Suzuki has sold 9,543 units for the month of November 2016, while it sold 6,956 units for the same period last year.
Maruti Suzuki Celerio's main selling point is the Automatic Manual Transmission (AMT) gearbox for its ease of driving and has been able to impress first-time car buyers and new drivers.
6. Hyundai Grand i10
Hyundai's top-selling car for the month of November 2016 is the Grand i10; however, it has slipped two positions compared to the same period last year. Hyundai sold 11,059 units this month compared to 12,899 units in November 2015.
The Hyundai Grand i10 is facing heat from Maruti Suzuki range of vehicles especially the Baleno and Vitara Brezza. Hyundai is expected to launch the facelifted Grand i10 in 2017 with new features to bring the Grand i10 back into contention.
5. Maruti Suzuki Baleno
The premium hatchback Maruti Suzuki Baleno has impressed with its standard fitment and pricing and the main reason for the Baleno to climb one spot in the ranking. Maruti sold 11,093 units for the month of November 2016 compared to 9,074 units sold in November 2015.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno boasts of standard fitments of dual airbags and ABS with EBD with a host of features which makes the premium hatchback sell lot of units for the country's largest car manufacturer.
4. Maruti Suzuki Swift
Maruti Suzuki sold 14,594 units for the month of November 2016 compared to 11,859 units for the same period last year. The Swift was at the 5th position in November 2015 and it continues to sell in spite of severe competition.
The Maruti Swift is known for its unique flowing design and the backing of the robust dealership network of the company, the Swift is one among the best selling cars in India.
3. Maruti Suzuki Wagon R
The evergreen small hatchback car from Maruti Suzuki continues its consistent performance. The company sold 15,566 units in November 2016 compared to 13,986 units for the same period last year.
The Wagon R is known for its practical approach with its cabin space and it comes in petrol and CNG engines with thefrugal performance of the tall-boy designed car.
2. Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire
With SUVs taking centre stage, not just in India, but the world over, the Maruti Swift DZire still impresses many even though most of the sales is attributed to fleet vehicles. The company sold 17,218 units in November 2016 compared to higher sales of 18,826 units in the same period last year.
The sales of the Swift DZire has indeed fallen; however, the sales in November is much better than October 2016 when it sold 17,682 units. Maruti's wide dealership network and the lower post sales service costs, the DZire is thebest buy in the sub-compact sedan segment.
1. Maruti Suzuki Alto
The Maruti Alto bettered its sale for this November 2016 with unit sales of 23,320 Altos compared to 21,995 units in November 2015. In fact, the sales in November 2016 is better than October sales of 18,854 units.
There has been severe competition in this segment with the Renault Kwid mixing up the segment with new features and pricing. There is no stopping the Maruti Alto though as it could be some time when there will be a model which will rise to challenge the best selling car in India.
Observation:
The most significant changes in the list of top 10 selling cars for this month is Tata Tiago, looks like the company has found its mojo back and with the upcoming launch of its crossover Hexa, Tata Motors could start to challenge some of the top selling cars in India.
