Tesla’s Newest Upgrade For Autopilot To Reduce Accidents
Tesla is upgrading the autopilot software in its cars, as stated by the company, the new over-the-air update is available for Tesla Model S and Model X autopilot software. According to Tesla boss Elon Musk, with this updated autopilot the accidents caused by the vehicles can be cut down my almost half.
As part of the version 8.0 update, the revised software has improved the Autopilot to register more objects in the car's radar system. There is no need of any kind of hardware to get this update. The Model S and Model X manufactured in past two years, fitted with radar can download the update.
The update will be rolled out in the next fortnight throughout the globe. Musk also explained about the additional feature ‘radar echo'. This technology bounces radar off the road under the car in front and rear to recognise objects ahead of that vehicle.
The new update also improves features such as, geocoding and lane detection. Musk claimed that the Model S and Model X are the safest cars on the road. And with this update it should improve its safety.
