Tesla Launches The Model 3, Receives Pre-Orders From India
Tesla launched the much-awaited Tesla Model 3 on March 31 and the EV has already received pre-orders from Indian enthusiasts.
The electric four-door sedan, which can sprint from zero to 60mph in less than six seconds and travel up to 345 km on a single charge, is Tesla's wonder kid. Experts in the automotive field feel that the Model 3 will be revolutionary, and it will reshape urban lifestyles around the globe.
Following the launch ceremony in California, Tesla Founder Elon Musk announced that Tesla is now ready to take orders from India and a few other markets.
Adding several more countries to Model 3 order page tonight. Check for details, but will include India, Brazil, SA, SK, NZ, Sing & Ireland.

Following the announcement, few tech-entrepreneurs from India have lined up to get their own Model 3. The new sedan is cleverly priced at $35,000 in the US.
Vijay Shekhar Sharma, Founder of Paytm, venture capitalist Mahesh Murthy, Vishal Gondal of fitness technology company GOQii are among those who tweeted about booking the Model 3.

However, we have absolutely no idea how much the car will finally cost after adding a significant amount on import duties in India. In addition to the $35,000 (Rs23.2 lakh), they might have to spend an additional 125 percent import duty.
"The Model 3 can go from 0 to 60mph in less than six seconds and will have a range of at least 215 miles on a charge. The car will seat five adults comfortably and will have front and rear trunks" said Musk
As of now, the Indian automobile market is leaning towards better environment-friendly cars. Tesla expects the government to offer incentives for electric cars by the time they start selling the cars here.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had visited the Tesla Motors headquarters in last September. Modi was pleased to find out about Tesla's compact battery system, the Powerwall, which is used to store solar energy.
Modi and Musk had discussed the future of renewable energy and how India is one of the largest markets in the world.
The Model 3 will go into production only in 2017. According to Tesla, more than 2,32,000 people have pre-ordered the car. In fact, enthusiasts were camping overnight outside Tesla stores across California to pre-order the new EV.
