Tata Motors might be smelling a winner in its portfolio of cars, the Tiago has garnered sound sales of 15,000 bookings.
So, has the Tiago brought the Tata Motors back into action like a Phoenix? By the early indication of 15,000 bookings, it looks like Tata Motors has woven a well-packaged car for the Indian market.
Tata has been upbeat about all its products like the Bolt, Zest, and even the Nano, however, they have not fared well in the Indian market. The Tata Tiago seems to have found the right combination of pricing, performance, and a well-packaged car seemed to have paid off well.
One of the reason for the Tiago to evoke such response is to do with the introductory pricing of Rs. 3.2 lakh ex-showroom (Delhi). And it is not just the pricing factor which makes the Tiago a good buy, the car is a well-rounded small car for the Indian market.
Some of its features like the Harman music system and the turn-by-turn navigation system sets it apart from other small cars in the market. And Tata Motors has gone back to its drawing board to figure out the details or essence of a winning car and put that into the Tiago's design, performance and the pricing.
If the current numbers are something that will continue to drive the sales for the Tata, the Tiago will push the carmaker into the big player field. Also, Tata is planning to launch the Nexon, a sub-compact SUV which could put the bang back in Tata Motors.
