Tata Tiago AMT is expected to be launched in India in 2017 as the AMT variant of the Tiago is being tested by Tata Motors near its Pune plant.
Indian automobile manufacturer Tata Motors is all set to offer the Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) variant of its successful hatchback, the Tiago.
According to reports, Tata Motors is already testing the AMT version of the hatchback near the firm's Pune manufacturing facility and the launch is expected in 2017. With the introduction of Tiago AMT, Tata Motors can expect a boost in sales of the hatchback.
The AMT variant of the Tiago will be a tough competitor to the likes of Maruti Suzuki Celerio AMT and Grand i10 AT. Currently, Tata Motors is offering the AMT gearbox with the Zest sedan in the Indian market.
Tata Motors has already enjoyed a good sales volume with its entry-level hatchback, the Tiago. In the month of November 2016, the company outpaced Mahindra & Mahindra riding high on the Tiago sales.
As per the sales figures from the automobile industry sources, Tata Motors managed to sell 12,736 units in November, whereas Mahindra & Mahindra sold 12,707 units in the same period.
The Tiago accounted for 47 percent of the sales volume with 6,008 units sold and was also featured in the top ten best selling cars. The hatchback features bold design language and attractive features.
Tata Tiago is offered in both petrol and diesel variant. The petrol version draws power from the 1.2-litre engine producing 84bhp and 114Nm of torque. The diesel variant is powered by 1.05-litre Revotorq engine producing 70bhp and 140Nm of peak torque.
Apart from that, Tata Motors will be also launching the Hexa next month. Also, the company plans to launch its compact SUV, the Nexon and new compact sedan, Kite 5 by next year in the Indian market.
