Tata Tiago AMT India Launch Delayed To 2017
Tata Motors much awaited Tiago AMT India launch has been delayed to 2017.
The much awaited automatic variant of the hatchback from Tata Motors, the Tiago AMT might not be launched in India in 2016. The car was supposed to hit Indian markets during this festive season.
According to the sources, Tata Motors will be launching the Tiago AMT in early or mid-2017. The reason for this delay is Tata Motors wants to focus on its upcoming Hexa which is company's bet on the premium crossover SUV segment.
Tata Motors is also gearing up to launch the Tiago-based sedan, the Kite 5 and Nexon sub-compact SUV next year which was showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo.
It is believed that after the Hexa launch Tata Motors will bring its Kite 5 sedan to the Indian market and then it will be followed by Tiago AMT.
Tata Motors is all stuffed up with its launch, but it will be risky to further delay the launch of Tiago AMT as the Renault Kwid AMT will be launching this month and Maruti Suzuki Celerio AMT has been a proven product in India.
Tata Motors have already begun testing the AMT version of the Tiago. Although the Tiago AMT will not bring any changes to the exterior design. Tata Motors has already equipped the AMT in Nano and Zest diesel.
The AMT will be available in only petrol variant of the Tiago and that's not a deal breaker. Magneti Marelli will be providing the F-Tronic AMT gearbox which will be mated to 1.2-litre Revotron engine producing 83bhp and 114Nm of torque.
The currently sold Tiago is a hot product for Tata Motors and is bringing some great numbers to the company in India with the spot on pricing of the car.
We can expect same from the Tiago AMT too, but Tata Motors have to work on further refining the AMT gearbox which lacks lower end grunt as seen on the Nano AMT.
