Tata's Upcoming Compact SUV Spied Again -- What's New This Time?
The Nexon compact SUV by Tata Motors has been caught testing on several occasions. On every occasion, the compact SUV was seen adorning new parts and components. This time around the Nexon was spied with projector headlamps.
The Nexon was first showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo in Delhi. The company later on followed it up with a close to production-ready model at the 2016 Auto Expo. The Nexon is based on the modular XO platform, which is the standard platform used by the Tiago.
Under the hood will be an optional petrol as well as a diesel engine. Tata could provide customers with the choice between a manual as well as an optional AMT system in the Nexon.
Once launched, the Nexon will take on the compact SUV segment in India. The Nexon will compete with the likes of the Ford EcoSport, Mahindra TUV3OO, and Maruti Suzuki's Vitara Brezza. Expect the Nexon to be priced at a base price of Rs. 6 lakh ex-showroom.
It is still unclear as to when Tata Motors will launch the Nexon compact SUV in the Indian market.
But, it is clear Tata is working keenly on the Nexon since 2014. For the moment, Tata Motors does not have a model in the compact SUV category; the Nexon is believed to fill this gap.
