Production-Spec Tata Kite To Be Named as Viago Or Altigo
Tata Motors is likely to rename the production spec Kite as Viago or Altigo.
Tata Motors had showcased the sedan Kite 5 which is based on the Tiago hatchback at the 2016 Auto Expo in February.
The new sedan was supposed to be launched in festive season of this year. But the launch has been postponed to mid-2017.
According to reports, the production version of the Kite 5 is likely to be renamed as Viago or Altigo. Tata Motors wanted to end the name of the sedan with ‘go'.
This is to match the sedan's name with its hatchback sibling Tiago. The other name which is likely to be used isthe Tata Tigor.
Although Tata Motors is yet to release an official statement on the name of the sedan. The Kite 5 sedan will be based on the same platform as the Tiago hatchback.
The front end of the Kite 5 will feature chrome Humanity line which extends to dual chamber headlamps. The rear end gets LED tail lamps and aggressive shoulder lines.
The Kite 5 will be powered by 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol and 1.05-litre three-cylinder diesel engine which is being employed in the Tiago hatchback. The petrol unit produces 83.8bhp and diesel engine churns out 69bhp of power.
The interior of the Kite 5 will be equipped with five-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Bluetooth connectivity and six-speaker sound system. The safety features on the sedan include dual airbags, ABS, EBD and corner stability control.
It is expected that the Kite 5 will be launched with a price tag of around Rs 4.8 lakh and Rs 7.3 lakh (on-road) Which will be around Rs 60,000 more than that of the Tiago hatchback.
