Tata Kite 5 Launch Delayed — Its The Tiago Effect!
Tata Motors have delayed the launch of its all-new compact sedan Kite 5 in the Indian market. This delay is caused due to overwhelming response for the Tiago hatchback.
Tata Motors had showcased its four new models at the 2016 Auto Expo this year. The Zica, which was renamed and launched as the Tiago, Kite 5, Hexa and Nexon were displayed at the auto show.
Shortly after the auto expo, Tata Motors launched the Tiago in the Indian market. The Tata Hexa is also all geared up to launch in January 2017. But the Tiago based sedan Kite 5 will have to wait for some more time to be introduced in the market.
Even though the compact sedan is all ready to hit the production line, the overwhelming success of the Tiago hatchback is delaying the Kite 5's entry into the Indian market.
According to reports, Senior Vice President - Program Planning and Program Management, Passenger Vehicles, Tata Motors Limited, Girish Wagh confirmed this news.
Wagh stated that although the Kite 5 is an interesting product, Tata is now focusing on reducing the waiting period for the Tiago. As the Tiago hatchback, the Kite 5 will be also manufactured at the Sanand plant.
The Tiago has received over 50,000 bookings and Tata has only delivered around 25,000 units to its customers. Tiago comes with 1.2-litre petrol unit and 1.05-litre diesel engine.
It is speculated that the Kite 5 could be launched in March 2017. The compact sedan will be powered by the same engine as its hatchback sibling. Initially, only the five-speed manual gearbox will be offered and an AMT version will be launched at a later stage.
