By Ajinkya

Tata Motors has a plan of introducing several new products in India. At the moment, their plan is to launch two new products in the domestic market every year. During 2016, the models planned to launch where the Tiago hatchback and Hexa MPV.

At the 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi, Tata Motors showcased several of its upcoming products. The Tiago was supposed to launch at the beginning of 2016, however, it was eventually pushed past the Auto Expo. The next product to launched in the country would be the Hexa MPV.

Now, several reports suggest that Tata has pushed the launch date of its Hexa in India forward. Hexa will be taking on the likes of Toyota Innova and Renault Lodgy in the Indian market. Unfortunately, this time, it is the engine and the Indian Government that plagues the Hexa launch.

Under the hood of Hexa is the Tata Varicor 2,179cc diesel engine. This engine falls under the diesel engine ban that exists in Delhi-NCR region. Ban on diesel engines over 2,000cc exists in Kerala as well and is expected to be implemented in few more cities and states.

The Nation Green Tribunal will soon be taking a decision on the ban of diesel engines. A one-time environment cess tax is expected to be levied on diesel engines over 2,000cc. Several factors are being weighed in before the launch of Hexa in India.
