Ssangyong Rexton To Be Redesigned In 2017; Coming To India

Ssangyong has confirmed that for 2017, they will be completely redesigning their Rexton SUV. Rexton is Ssangyong's flagship model and an all-new version will be sold internationally. The update has been confirmed by Jon Sik Choi, CEO & President of Ssangyong.

The all-new Rexton by Ssangyong will be making its global debut sometime during mid-2017. Bookings and delivery are slated to begin by 2017-end in most international markets. New Rexton is expected to go on sale in the European and Asian markets primarily.

Under the hood of the 2017 Rexton, an all-new 2.0-litre GDI turbo engine will be provided. Mahindra & Mahindra will be helping design and develop the new engine for Ssangyong. At this point, performance figures have not been divulged yet.

In terms of design language, Ssangyong will make use of the Y400 model as a base. Several new and exciting creature comforts and driving aids will be provided to the 2017 Rexton. All updates will move the Ssangyong Rexton to a higher position than where it previously sold.

All-new Rexton by Ssangyong is most likely to be offered in India as well. Currently, Ssangyong offers only the old Rexton SUV in India and plans to introduce the Tivoli compact SUV soon in the country. We will have to wait and see when the all-new Rexton will make its Indian debut.
