Ssangyong To Launch Electric Vehicles Globally By 2020
Ssangyong will be launching their first electric vehicles internationally by 2020. The Tivoli will be their first model to be electrified by Ssangyong.
Ssangyong Motors is looking at exploring future mobility options. The Korean-based manufacturer now confirms that its very first fully electric vehicle will be launched by 2020. For electric vehicles, Ssangyong could team up with another manufacturer for ease of development.
Initially, Ssangyong Tivoli will be utilised for their electric vehicle project. Using an existing vehicle and converting it to work on electric batteries will reduce initial development costs. This will be followed by the launch of two all-new electric vehicles by Ssangyong.
BMW is touted to be the most suitable partner for Ssangyong and their electric vehicles. Currently, BMW already has a couple of electric vehicles on offer internationally. The German manufacturer has made its intentions clear that it will soon expand its electric vehicle range.
Currently, Ssangyong Motors is in partnership Mahindra & Mahindra. The Indian automobile manufacturer already manufactures its own electric vehicle. Mahindra is also part of the Formula E Championship, which will help them further develop their electric vehicle project.
Very first electric vehicle by Ssangyong will be introduced in Korea and United Kingdom. India is unlikely to receive Ssangyong electric vehicles anytime soon. Stay tuned as we will be tracking this story closely for more details.
