Skoda To Launch Special Edition Rapid Monte Carlo In India
Skoda is gearing up to launch the Rapid Monte Carlo edition in India, to celebrate the company’s motorsport history.
Skoda is planning to launch a line up of sporty cars in India, based on the company's current lineup. One of such launches will be the Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo edition, based on the recently launched facelifted Rapid.
Being a special edition vehicle, the Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo model celebrates Skoda's motorsport history. The Rapid Monte Carlo edition was first introduced globally in 2015.
The Rapid Monte Carlo features cosmetic updates to make the car look sportier than the regular model. Updates include blacked out grille, bumper extensions, side skirt extensions, alloy wheels, mirrors, and the boot lid spoiler.
The exterior being finished in a unique red, the interiors also feature black upholstery with contrasting stitches to match the exterior. Other interior upgrades include pedals finished in a metallic look and a flat bottomed steering wheel.
In terms of engine specification, the Monte Carlo edition of the Rapid will have no changes. It will be powered by the 1.6-litre petrol and the 1.5-litre diesel engine that currently power the car.
The 1.6-litre petrol engine develops 103bhp and 153Nm of peak torque, while the 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine makes 108bhp and 250Nm of torque. On the regular Rapid, the engines come mated to a manual or an optional DSG automatic gearbox.
The Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo edition is likely to be launched in India in a few months, most probably during the first half of 2017. Stay tuned for updates regarding the same.
