Traffic congestion is a growing concern in many parts of India, and Delhi adopted an odd even policy to try and decongest traffic. Now, Shimla is planning on adopting the same to try and free the streets.
The call was taken after intense traffic jams caused because of local and tourist vehicles.
Officials from different departments took part in a meeting, headed by GC Negi, the District Magistrate regarding ways to decongest traffic and regulate traffic in a better manner.
Negi said that the implementation of odd even formula was discussed, along with other plans like making the roads one-way, and also how to deal with tourist buses. These ideas will be presented before the state government to try and decongest the city.
Virbhadra Singh, the Chief Minister of Shimla said that new tourist spots should be developed to divert traffic away from towns. He said that roads too will be widened.
