Scuderia Ferrari Wants Sebastian Vettel To Earn His Spot For 2018 Season
Scuderia Ferrari has so far not been able to secure a win during 2016 Formula One season. Both drivers, Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel have not been able to impress bosses at Ferrari. Raikkonen and Vettel both have contracts lasting till 2017 Championship.
Maurizio Arrivabene, Team Principal at Ferrari has strict orders for his drivers. Arrivabene wants Sebastian Vettel to earn his seat at Ferrari post-2017. Vettel will have to be competitive as well as secure podium finishes in order to be with Ferrari in the future.
Currently, Sebastian Vettel lies fifth in Formula One 2016 championship. Teammate Kimi Raikkonen is just above him with a few more points. Vettel, however, has witnessed several mishaps during the 2016 season.
Vettel has been involved in first turn related accidents with Daniil Kvyat and Max Verstappen. Recently, Vettel clashed with Nico Rosberg at the 2016 Malaysian GP. Sebastian Vettel has been handed a three-place grid penalty at the Japanese GP for causing an accident in Malaysia.
Previously, Scuderia Ferrari has managed to motivate drivers with renewal in contracts. Michael Schumacher and Fernando Alonso are prime examples. However, Ferrari realises times have changed and have decided contract negotiations will begin after measuring 2017 performance.
