The flying squads of the motor vehicles department (MVD) have seized an unregistered DC Avanti sports car. The car was seized at Mira Road for plying on road without a registration plate.
The DC Avanti sports car costs around Rs 35 lakhs and the car has been parked at the Regional Transport Office in Thane. The car was seized near a hotel on Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway after its driver failed to produce necessary documents.
The red colour DC Avanti had clocked 16,619kms. Transport Officer of the RTO at Thane, Shyam Lohi confirmed the development.
According to sources the car was in possession of a woman from Mira Road who claimed that she borrowed the vehicle from its owner. The car's driver and owner have to produce all the required documents of the car and the tax payment receipt.

If the owner fails to produce required documents, the motor vehicle department will recover the tax and penalty along with the fine for plying on the road without registration plate.
The DC Avanti was first showcased at the Delhi Auto Expo in 2008. Although, the India made sports car hit the roads in 2015 after clearing all the safety tests. The car has been designed and manufactured by automobile designer Dilip Chabria's company.
