Rolls Royce 103EX Concept Showcased In US
Rolls Royce has showcased their autonomous 103EX concept in Santa Monica, California for its North American debut.
This is the first autonomous concept for the British firm. It is also their take on the Vision 100 concept series by BMW to celebrate the company's centenary.
The 104EX concept is an autonomous vehicle for their ultra-rich customers which is inspired by their historic coach models from the past.
The concept features the Voice of Eleanor which will be the virtual assistant and chauffeur for the owner. Eleanor will be connected to every aspect of owners surroundings.
The interior cabin is called as the Grand Sanctuary and is handcrafted by precious and special materials. The elegant atmosphere in the cabin feels like a cocoon for the passengers.
The glass canopy over the cabin has a mechanism to open high enough to allow the passengers to stand. And a red light is projected to give carpet-like feel inside the car.
Giles Taylor, Director of Design, Rolls-Royce said, "With the Rolls-Royce VISION NEXT 100 we were mindful not to dwell on the past. We wanted to be as innovative as possible and at the same time transcend the design history of the marque."
He added, "The Grand Arrival gesture of the Rolls-Royce VISION NEXT 100 creates a stage for our important passengers as they arrive at their ultimate destination."
The concept 103EX is powered by a zero emission powertrain, as the bulky V12 engines are unlikely to make it to the future.
